Well, we made it! What a long day we had and what a great little boy Silas was! Silas had 3 appointments today. The first was with a plastic surgeon to rule out any associated syndromes and to talk about future options for his ears. The second was an audiology appointment where we had a hearing test with his BAHA on. Wow! What a difference a BAHA makes! He heard everything and did so well. In the afternoon he had a CT scan to determine what internal ear structures he has and this was the most traumatic of the appointments because he had to be sedated for the scan.
As of 6 am he could not eat anything but liquids, thankfully jello counted as a liquid. I got him up at 5:30 and fed him breakfast - I think this is what saved our day. We left home about 6:45 and my great friend Lennie came along for moral support. You are the best Lennie! He did great through the first two appointments and then we had a jello/lunch break and my friend Brooke came and met us for lunch. It was really fun to see her. After lunch we walked a little and then went for the CT scan. He took his medicine great and then conked out after about 15 minutes. They did the scan and then he slept for about and hour and a half while the sedation med wore off. He woke up, drank some juice ate a few crackers and was good to go! He slept most of the way home.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for today. It was truly and answered prayer. He was great, the food situation worked out and I had the energy and patience to make it through the day. Lennie - you were a HUGE help and I could not have done it without you! Thanks to my ma-maw and pa-paw for taking care of the girls and making dinner, thanks to dad for taking Madelyn to piano, thanks Tara for coming over early, thanks Mandy for taking Madelyn to school, thanks Mom for helping get the kids to bed. It takes a village to raise a family! I am so blessed to have each one of you.
